OPERATING SYSTEM
An operating system (sometimes abbreviated as ”OS”)is the program that, after being initially loaded into the computer by a boot program, manages all the other programs in a computer.
As we know there are lots of operating systems like windows , LINUX and android currently being used by different users according to their needs , in this abstract we will stress importance on 3 most emerging operating systems trends that is followed around the world.
First let’s see the current record of OS users across globe with help of a pie chart.
The following pie chart shows the operating system distributed across servers, desktops and mobile users.
We can observe that while LINUX is the best choice of users while working on servers where primary priority is safety, the use of windows dominates in operating systems at desktops where the priority is mainly given to ease of access.
In touchpads like mobiles apple’s i-phone has largely dominated the world until the introduction of android.
Now with the popularization of smartphones the android OS with more than 70,000 google apps has become leading OS used across the world.
COMPUTERS
There are various Linux based operating systems like Redhat, backtrack , fedora , Ubuntu, which are used by users, for its advantages of being an open source software through which it’s source code could be configured as per your wish.
The new Linux OS “the Kali Linux” was launched recently which is also known as backtrack 6 , equipped with advanced hacking tools, this OS can be used for performing massive exploits.
ANDROID
When an operating system is opensource, based on Linux, owned by Google, backed by all major mobile device manufacturers including H.T.C, Samsung, Motorola, Dell, Sony Ericsson,LG and countless more, and allows for end less customization, it is bound to make an impact.
The latest release android 4.4 kit-kat is supposed to achieve the new heights.
CLOUD OS
The idea of a Cloud Operating System isn’t new, however we are starting to see more and more chatter from various companies about what it is in what appears to be an emerging new trend in the Cloud Computing universe.
As Cloud companies compete any differentiate or has the ability to create a massives wing to a product. Cloud companies are slaughtering each other globally with many running at a significant loss while they try and capture a market share.
This is great for the consumer at the moment, where we have low pricing and a reasonably mature market to access,if we are careful where we deploy our workloads, we can get a good service for a very reasonable price.
In order to get into Cloud you’regoing to need to standardize your services (think Intel vs Sparc or RHE vs HPUX), virtualise it with a standard product (say VMWare vs HPVSE), consolidate it (put it into a virtual managed environment), and then automate it (a good standard tool set). Then, you’re going to pickup those various workloads and their associate layers and port it to a Cloud Service Provider.
