ABOUT CSI

Formed in 1965, the CSI has been instrumental in guiding the Indian IT industry down the right path since its formative years. Today, the CSI has 69 chapters all over India, 381 student branches, and more than 70,000 members, including India’s most famous IT industry leaders, brilliant scientists and dedicated academicians. Now, you have the opportunity to be a part of this distinguished fraternity too.

The mission of the CSI is to facilitate research, knowledge sharing, learning and career enhancement for all categories of IT professionals, while simultaneously inspiring and nurturing new entrants into the industry and helping them to integrate into the IT community. The CSI is also working closely with other industry associations, government bodies and academia to ensure that the benefits of IT advancement ultimately percolate down to every single citizen of India.

Inauguration of UPES CSI Student Chapter

On 1st October 2010 the UPES -CSI Students Branch was inaugurated at University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Dehradun.

The function started with lighting of lamp by the guests Mr. Vinod Kumar Taneja , DGM, National Informatics Center (NIC) & Vice Chairman CSI Dehradun Chapter, Mr. Polash R Bora, DM (Programming) GEOPIC ONGC, Prof. Durgesh Pant, Prof. G. C. Tiwari, Pro-Vice Chancellor, UPES, Dr. Shrihari, Dean CoES UPES and staff member of Centre for Information Technology, UPES, which was followed by  the University Geet (Sarswati Vandana) by students. 

Welcome address was delivered by Prof. G. C. Tiwari, Pro Vice Chancellor, University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, who explained the importance of opening the students Chapter in the university and suggested students to fully utilize this broad platform by regularly organizing and participating in the activities.

Then the honorable guest Mr. Vinod K. Taneja addressed the students and emphasized the role of CSI in career building of students. There was also a presentation given by him on “Cloud Computing”, which enhanced the knowledge of students on the topic.

Later a quiz competition  “TRIPOD”  was conducted by Mr. Polash Bora, which was indeed an interactive activity that made the students participate with full enthusiasm. Also winners of the quiz were given a prize at the end of the function.

Students of B.Tech (CSE), B.Tech (GioInformatics) and MBA (Information System Management) participated in this Inauguration.

During this occasion Mr. Vinay Avasthi, SBC UPES CSI Student branch announced  SBCom  of  Student Branch. After that, certificates were distributed to students for participation in  MATLAB Workshop, which was organized by Dr. Parag Mantri.

Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Shrihari, DEAN of CoES, UPES. He conveyed his thanks to the guests, faculty, and students for their active participation and making the event a success.

Dr. D. K. Punia, Mr. A. B. Garg, Mr. V. P. Mathur, Mr. PSVS Shridhar and Mr. Kingshuck Shrivastava from Centre for Information Technology, UPES were present during this program.
